Children in Liberia know only 2 colors, blue and white. Let start a children club and teach them about the real outside world! (Thought by Anneke de Kok – Quoi, November 2005)

Liberia remains one of the poorest countries with the fourth lowest GDP per capita in the world and a ranking of 169 on the 2009 Human Development Index.1 Its capital, Monrovia, continues to recover from the country’s 14-year civil war and the influx of internally displaced people and rural migrants that have swelled the city’s size beyond capacity. Approximately 300,000 people in Monrovia live in poverty. Among these, children suffer the effects of poverty, as school fees preclude educational opportunities and children are forced to work, selling cold water on the street or crushing rocks, to help support their families. These children are often denied a safe, secure, and nurturing environment from which to develop spiritually and physically. Among their challenges, the under-five mortality rate stands at 11% with malnutrition and childhood illnesses a constant fear.2 For the nearly one in ten Liberians who have survived past five years old, 42% have never attended school.3

Manneka since 2009 a partner of Samaritan Purse Liberia, ministers to this vulnerable children in Monrovia through Children’s Bible Clubs, which share the Gospel through art projects, stories, songs, dramas, and games. These activities tangibly demonstrate God’s love to children and open doors for the Manneka children club teachers, Ezekiel D. Gardea , Weedar Kermue and Annie Ceh to minister to parents and families. In 2009, 4,116 children benefitted from Children’s Bible Clubs in three different locations in Monrovia. Manneka has seen an increase in the number of people requesting the Children’s Lion Bibles as they were distributed during the Christmas celebrating 2008.

MANNEKA hope to reach this year 8,800 children in Congo Town, Rock Hole, and Sinkor, areas of Monrovia through weekly Bible Clubs and 4,600 children through Vacation Bible club weeks. New this year is the monthly Bible Club at a home for disabled children in Sinkor 9th street. as well as a special Mother Day program in 12 villages in Bomi County where children can create their own Mother's Day greeting card and decorate a small piece of hand soap as a gift for their mothers

We try to send some pictures to you or you can use pictures earlier send by Geeke or me kids are coloring

Of course the Mother Day program will be hold also in Monrovia for the 3rd year in a row. Started in 2008, with 100 children in Congo town, creating a nice card for their mother, this year we expecting that more than 700 children will make a nice Mother’s day present for their mother.

Through the years MANNEKA children ministry programs made an impact in the lives of thousands of vulnerable children in Monrovia, who might not otherwise experience the Gospel relayed in ways they can understand. We give God the glory!

Since 2009 Samaritan Purse Liberia/ Ireland is our main donor who fund our children club activities. In the past we received funds from The Dutch reformed church in Papendrecht , the Netherlands, MSG the Netherlands, Mercy ships and Mercy ship crew members to continue our children club programs.
